“Animality?”

Artist’s Statement

I am attempting to portray the anger and frustration imposed upon men through the media in modern-day society. The Man/Wolf imagery show the animalistic characteristic conveyed in the heightened emotions associated with toxic masculinity. It is a dangerous anthropomorphic leap to extrapolate recklessly from one species to another. Men are burdened with the notion that primal urges of violence are an acceptable expression of the animal within. This work is a cry out against preconceptions and perceptions about men and aggression and is about toxic masculinity.
