“Catharsis”

Artist’s Statement

For me, emotions are tangible and visceral. My body reacts to my environment: tears, cramps, breaths, and screams. It’s as if my body is an instrument that chooses to answer the surrounding sounds, with a heightened sensitivity and awareness.

I suffer from the loneliness of not having family around; fighting to complete the HSC alone; going to the doctor alone… Like many other young international students, I have worries and fears, but I try to hide them from my friends and family. I find myself acting strong yet wanting to be stronger. The style of editing & cinematography enables me to visualise these hidden feelings and emotions that pile up, exploding and releasing. Welcome to the sensory and emotional feast of my journey to adulthood.
