Artist’s Statement

I have designed my coat to not fit within the prevailing gender categories represented in traditional clothing stores. The piece incorporates themes from childhood games such as tic Tac Toe. These childhood games are a symbol of purity and innocence. They represent the childhood time where everyone is just expressing who they are. Clothing is a medium for personal expression and the aim of my collection is that it helps the customer express their individuality. My collection is a voice for a minority of people in society that are not necessarily catered for by the fashion industry. I hope my dress coat encourages the ideal of diversity and acceptance.
