“Decorative Statement Chair“

Artist’s Statement

The motivation for my Major Design and Technology project is to solve the need for a distinctive indoor chair that makes a statement. 

As this is my first project of this nature, the challenge excites me, driving me to create the best possible design. This chair will not only serve as a functional piece but also as a decorative element in my home, making it a meaningful addition to my family. 

This project is an opportunity to enhance my creativity and timber working skills. By exploring different techniques and incorporating innovative ideas, I aim to achieve a polished final product. The process of designing and building this chair is both a test of my abilities and a chance to explore new creative avenues. 

For inspiration, I looked to the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, an iconic American architect known for his unique furniture designs. His chairs have provided me with both inspiration and insight, showing me that it’s possible to create something that is both unique and visually appealing.
