“Genesis”

Expressive Form: Painting

Artist’s Statement

My work explores the evolving relationship we have with technology and artificial intelligence, and how these advancements impact human connections. Inspired by the movie Blade Runner, Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, the iconic hands, originally symbolising the divine spark of life, are reimagined, symbolising the gradual shift from humanity to artificiality. This transformation underscores the unsettling reality where technology, rather than faith, now shapes our existence.

Genesis highlights the erosion of genuine interactions, replaced by synthetic constructs. As we live in an increasingly tech-driven world, viewers are encouraged to reflect on these implications and question the essence of what human connections have become.

Inspiration Artists: Michelangelo, Imants Tillers, Ian Francis and Tim Kent.
