Artist’s Statement

The Year of The Dragon delves into my connection to my Chinese heritage, where the dragon symbolises power and coming of age. As 2024 marks both the Year of The Dragon and my graduation, it represents a transformation for many of us with Chinese roots. Unlike others drawn to ancient poetry and songs, I’m captivated by Chinese mythology and legends. My work reimagines these tales through vivid graffiti-style characters, highlighting our rich traditions in a modern context. The dragon embodies the enduring spirit of Chinese culture, a powerful symbol in our evolving, globalised world.
