“The Patient Reclamation”

Expressive Form: Ceramics

Artist’s Statement

Nature, with its timeless beauty and power, has endured for millions of years. Studies like palaeontology and lichenology reveal evidence of its seemingly immortal presence. Lichens and fungi, which live for thousands of years, reflect nature’s resilience and its witnessing of human history. In contrast, humans seem fragile and mortal and strive for significance in a transient, absurd reality. Ultimately, nature quietly reclaims all we create, from the destruction of war to abandoned buildings. It slowly envelops our work, from clay vessels to grandiose temples. This reclamation isn’t to be feared but embraced, as we are part of nature and destined to return to it. Nature remembers through us, and we through it. In the end, we return to nature, merging our legacies as we are finally reclaimed.
